Life is out of sequence. My first post for Hawaii is for an event near the end of our stay. There will be other posts I suspect, like...let's see...oh yeah, surf lessons or boogie boarding or a luau or a long swim with a giant turtle or laughing at baby spinner dolphins or food truck Vietnamese food or fish tacos at Jawz or a helicopter trip or snorkling or seeing the humuhumunukunukuapua (Hawaii's state fish) or mai tai Wednesday by the pool or a craft beer tour or vintage t-shirt purchases or dancing the hula on stage or visiting the Dole Pineapple tourist trap... But that will have to wait for another day.... Here is a video of our Pearl Harbor visit. And while I suspect most of you know the story, it is a very powerful place to witness in person the story of December 7, 1941. Not in the video was the talk from the volunteer at the memorial. He spoke about a few of the men who are entombed in the USS Arizona underneath us. One sailor got into trouble in the town and was thrown into the brig. Only issue was his ship had left so he was locked up in the Arizona instead. In a way he got a life sentence since he is still behind bars. If you'd like a head start on what we were up to visit Mellissa's excellent blog.
